Georgia Enters Level 1 Drought Response — What It Means for Manchester
The State of Georgia has officially entered a Level 1 Drought Response, as declared by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD).
At this time, there are no mandatory water restrictions in the City of Manchester. However, this declaration serves as an early signal that conservation matters now more than ever.
💧 What Level 1 Means
Under a Level 1 Drought Response, public water systems like Manchester are required to:
- Inform and educate customers about drought conditions
- Encourage voluntary water conservation
- Promote responsible water use across homes and businesses
🌱 Simple Ways You Can Help
Small actions across the community can make a big difference:
- Fix leaking faucets and running toilets
- Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads
- Turn off the tap while brushing teeth
- Take shorter showers
- Water lawns only when necessary
🕓 Outdoor Watering Reminder
Georgia’s statewide outdoor watering schedule remains in place:
- Watering is allowed between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.
- This applies year-round as part of conservation best practices
🤝 A Shared Responsibility
Water is one of Manchester’s most valuable resources. While our system continues to meet demand, proactive conservation helps protect supply, reduce strain on infrastructure, and avoid stricter drought measures later.
We encourage all residents and businesses to take part.
